Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a significant degenerative joint disease that impacts the quality of life and daily functions of those impacted. Treatment options range from non-surgical interventions to surgical procedures.
Here are some of the protocols and procedures for Dr. Bieber treating a patient with knee arthritis.
Firstly each patient’s case is individualized.
- A PRP treatment protocol may include 1-3 injections
- Any PRP intervention (single or multiple injections) is often effective for mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis.
- Multiple injections of PRP often outperform multiple injections of hyaluronic acid (HA) for mild to moderate knee OA. (HA) injections often do not work in patients that have severe OA of their knee(s).
- For patients with advanced knee OA, PRP injections are effective in achieving clinical improvement, but it is often not long lasting.
- It is Dr. Biebers protocol that with advance osteoarthritis- adding both PRP and bone marrow stem cells to the injection will increase success and patient outcomes.
